A Ghost Love Story

Posted 05-14-2008 at 08:51 PM by RBC
First I have to lay some ground work to this story:

I was married the Greatest Man around for 18 years.
Joe was a Navy pilot,He would teach the New Pilots.
Even after 18 years we were very much in Love.

Joe would work nights and be Home by Noon everyday. He Loved doing the Touch and Go Landings .

Joe would call me every morning Just before The Girls went to school so he could wish Them a Good day,and like clock work he called that Morning to say he would be home at Noon. His normal time.

Well that day I heard the front door open and the Phone started ringing at The same time .. so I yelled Hi To Joe and was in the kitchen to answer the phone.( I couldn't see The Living Door from the Kitchen). I heard him say "I love you Don't Be Mad.."

It was the Hospital on the base saying Joe had been in a accident. This took me by shock I said ok, Joe is home now and I'll see to it that he is Taken good care of, and hung the phone up.

Well the phone stated ringing again..But, by this time I was out of the kitchen looking for Joe.
The front door was wide open and No Joe anywhere. and the phone was still ringing.

So when I answered the phone the second time. It was the base Commander asking me to come down to the hospital.

Anyway I looked around in the house, and sure enough no Joe anywhere.

I went to the Hospital, and the parking lot By the emergency room was full so I drove around to the front of the Hospital and Parked in the front. I walked through the hospital to the emergency room. When I got there all the stretchers were empty. I thought to myself "he must be in x-ray".

Then I saw the base Commander and the Chaplin come out of a room and close the door behind them. They had not seen me yet, but I heard them say " She is going to take this real hard". Little did I know then They were talking about me.

My worst nightmare had come true..

The day of the funeral everyone was in the den waiting as we all got together. For the ride to the funeral home. The front door blew open again. This time I just happen to notice the time it was "noon".
I made a remark "Oh Joe is Home" everyone thought I had taken leave of my mind.

For you see the only person I ever let use the front door was Joe, that was his Honor alone as being head of the house. and being gone most of the time he had that right to walk in the front door if he wanted too.I didn't care who you were back door only!! expect him..

Ever since then at night you could hear Joe walking around the house like he was checking to make sure the place was secured for the night while everyone sleeps.

Now I know what you are thinking but I haven't been the only one who has heard him walking around the house..

So even death can't stop Love.. He still keeps a eye on us to this day. Love Never dies..

Last Night after I wrote this I sent it to a few Friends : this is their comments:via email

Oh Blinky,I loved it because there is so much love there but my eyes are all teared up because of your tragedy.I am so sorry.

Last night in chat you mentioned you were going through some health issues. I did not get to comment because my ADD was all over the place with the different conversations.I have a hard time keeping up.I only caught the part where you said you are all bruised from the I.V.'s. I hope you get some relief soon. I will keep you in my prayers.

Thank you so much for sharing your tragedy, love, and hope in your ghost love story.

sincerely,
Bearoness

Hey Blinky,

Just wanted to let you know that I burst into tears this morning while reading your Blog entry. Such a sad story about your Joe.

I believe our loved ones watch us also. I know a few times I saw my Dad after he passed away I just never told anyone. I also had something happen to me after my Granmother died that made me know she has always been around.

We can never be the judge of things like this cause we don't know what happens after death or what our souls can do after we leave here. I worked with Veterans for 3 years so they have a very close place in my heart. I did counseling with them as a non-VA employee so they really opened up to me cause they never felt threatened.

Anyway I loved the way you wrote that so know you are in my thoughts today my friend.
