I have never had a problem of any kind even when the Jehovah Witnesses came here the year before last. Joe said from the porch...."Now just stop & turn around & get back in your car!".....we never heard from them again.
You would think the Jehovah's Witnesses would absolutely LOVE Halloween.
I mean, a holiday where you go around ringing people's doorbells should be right up their alley don't ya think?
Anyway--Great looking house, Pumpkinprincess !! Looks like plenty of possibilities for a decent yard haunt. Congratulations !!
First, blessings in the new house, it is beautiful!
There is a thread on this forum somewhere with pictures of a member's house complete with pirate ship on the roof...that would give you some great ideas for the deck. How fun that you have a corner lot, and can decorate from 2 sides!
And I absolutely LOVE your avatar, it might be the coolest thing I have ever seen!!
Hey Wilbret, I wasn't trying to insult you or anyone living further south. Like I said, it was just a theory which I based on what I've heard from friends who have lived in the South. Not to mention the number of haunters here on the forum that have mentioned every now and again about someone who shows up in front of their house during set up or on Halloween day and make ignorant comments about how their favorite holiday is evil. I've lived in Chicago all my life and have never heard of churches that have some kind of sit-in on Halloween day, and I went to catholic school for 8 years. I also lived within very close proximity of five catholic churches and none did this either, but I've heard of more of this happening down south.
Anyhow, I haven't "accused" (as you put it) those living south of anything. I simply said that that haunters down south seem to have to deal with more ignorant people who try to push their religious beliefs on you. I didn't say that everyone who is religious and lives south is "backwards or more religious". Those are your words, not mine. I theorized there being a higher number of "those people" down there. You said that I painted everyone down there with the same brush. Try not to twist other people's words to benefit your own point of view.

This is interesting. I've lived in Georgia nearly all my life too, and although I definitely don't know how every town here celebrates Halloween I can say without a doubt that mine practices a kind of 'restricted?' celebration....yes, we have lots of TOT'er's in our neighborhood, little kids--but that's not common all over town. Our Broad St. does recognize it by letting stores who want to participate give out candy for the young ones. But as far as it being huge here...it's just not. If it falls on a Sunday, forget it. I think there are some folks here who act ignorant about it, wanting to denounce it because it's 'The Devil's Holiday'....they want to ignore it. That's just my town though, man.
Sometimes I get a little sidetracked, Pumpkinprincess.. :-) Gorgeous home!!

Where Muffy goes so does her decorations!! I have never had a problem of any kind even when the Jehovah Witnesses came here the year before last. Joe said from the porch...."Now just stop & turn around & get back in your car!".....we never heard from them again.
No, see, ya did it all wrong. You're supposed to invite them in to help you corpse the bucky...strangely leads to the same end result though...
Without "evil" (as defined by...?) there would be no purpose to put money in the collection plate, now would there?
"Look at those Halloween decorations! He must be evil!"

PumpkinPrincess, Your have a beautiful house, and it will be great to haunt, And with it being on a corner, you have twice the space , I would just do what you want to do, seeing as you don't do gory anyway, go for it.
As far as people thinking Halloween is evil, I live in the midwest, but actually in the most conservatice part of Michigan a certain denomination is very prevelant here don't want to say what, and but is a small little Bible belt of it's own. I actually have been told that if you observe halloween you are going to hell. To be fair, not from the denomination I was refering to earlier, there is another group, which incompasss a couple to church denominatons that really believe it, I don't want to affend anyone so won't say which, but it my experience, they are the worst, believing t is satan worship
I didn't mean to stereotype a region, just sharing my experience.
Hey Pumpkin, I don't think that wilbret was referring to you at all. I'm pretty certain he thinks that I'm ignorant for saying something I didn't say.
Your house is beautiful, and hauntilicious! If I was you, I'd go crazy with my gothic and not gory props. Go for it! I'll bet you get a positive response. As UnOrthodOx already mentioned, you could ask the neighbors if you don't want to offend. I'm sure they'd be willing to tell you if Halloween is big in your neighborhood. But even if my new neighbor told me that my neighborhood wasn't really into Halloween, I'd still do my haunt. You might be that house who starts it for the whole block and attracts lots of kids!
Now, I don't know your age, so if you live in a retirement or gated community, that might not be very popular. Considering your house is two floors, I'm guessing it's not a retirement community.

What, you don't believe in escalators?
