Muffy! I forgot all about Charleston Chews!!! They were my absolute favorite, but I can't find them anymore. Actually, I think the Family Dollar might have some, not sure. I'll have to go look now. I remember scrounging for money when I was a kid just so I could buy one. I also love the Cow Tails. The Goetze's Caramel Creams are the same thing, but the Cow Tails were always so much better for some reason.

Candy has gotten really expensive, that's one of the reason why I rarely buy any anymore. I can't believe a regular size candy bar is now $1! They were between 50-55 cents for many years and I just never thought about them going any higher than that. They always say inflation, inflation. Okay, if the price of everything is going up, how come my pay check is not going up???? What's up with that????

They're actually still out there! Saw some in a little store in PA and another in NH just last summer. I was amazed!

we sell 3 flavors of charleston chews at the gas staition where i work. i am not into them. we also sell candy cigarettes but they call them candy sticks now. who are they trying to fool, the kids know what they really are. i still like them, and i have never smoked, so they promote smoking doesn't hold up in my book. whoppers, remember them in milk carton size containers. bottle caps, yum. remember the long flat thin taffy? purple and white, or yellow and white and such? we sold that up till about a month ago. twizzlers are great. we make spiders every halloween for my grandsons class. the twizzler strings are for the legs, and a glob of fudge for the body, mini m&m's for the eyes. the kids call my grandson a saint every halloween. about a small handfull up candy corn and i have enough. has anyone tried the new 3 muskateers bar with mint. it is scrumpcious. i never liked dark chocolate until they put it around the milky way. dove candy bars are my all time fav. remember the 2 sticks of bubble gum coated in powder sugar and wrapped together for a penny. loveed that gum. my favorite candy bar from ages ago was the 7 up candy bar. wish they still made that. clark candy bars, walnut crushes, mallow cups, buns. boy am i old

When I was in middle school (yes, it was a long time ago. Thanks for asking), I would take a few dollars to the grocery store near my house and RACK UP on some candy. Mostly Jolly Ranchers, 1 cent gum, and the little packs of mini malt balls. I would take them to school and sell this stuff for 50 cents each. You would think these kids were in prison, because I MADE BANK!!! I mean I sold out in less than three periods. Oh, the memories of free enterprise.

Yes, kiddies with disposable income were always a treat in school. I did the same in middle school, was able to mail order cases of some stuff, then sell it just a tad cheaper than the candy machine at school. Even now, I undercut the machines at work for those that know about it...

Well I don't know whether to praise you two as crafty entrepreneurs or say shame on y'all for taking a bunch of kids' lunch money.....aah, they knew the consequences of a trade, I say good for y'all!! Heck I would've thought Jolly Rogers and chocolate and gum was a better meal than the lunchroom mystery meat special too!

Well, at least one of us was a little too crafty and moved onto some less-than-perfectly-legal items for kids of the agegroup in highschool. :ashamed:

Never smoked myself, but boy could you really get a boatload from selling em...

Wait, you made a boatload? Sounds like you're talking about my highschool....I won't incriminate myself any further here. ;-) I'm a very good girl these days (well, in that respect anyways..)
