I was always taught that anything
worth doing is
worth doing right. When I was young, one Halloween I was successful scaring the neighborhood kids and adults. Right then I knew "... this is
worth doing." The "victims" laughed about it and when the next H'ween approached, they asked, "What're you gonna do this year?"
I have several passions and this is just one. But it's so much fun for me and for my son, while bringing enjoyment to the kids and most of the adults (though only a few admit it), that it continues to be
worth doing.
My work is finance where everything must be balanced and perfect. Very straight laced.
Another passion is our custom cars where everything must be perfect to show - why I don't show anymore. Just enjoy the cars.
I used to be passionate about carpentry as a hobby. Great satisfaction when finished, but not exactly stress-free.
Halloween can be lopsided, dirty, and crazy.
It can be approached methodically to successfully obtain chaos.
We can be creative without criticism.
If something doesn't work, 10 other things do work and you're the only one who knows that damn fan motor burned out so the monster's head isn't turning - so what?
Halloween is fun. NO (outside) stress. If it ever gets stressful, I'll quit.
As for those who don't get it ... they are the ones missing out on the fun. The problem is theirs not yours. Don't make it yours.
