Default FCG PROBLEMS

ok, My ghost was done and hung and seeming to be working fine this last Halloween. Yet every so often I noticed it wasn't working. Upon inspection, the ropes were getting all tangled around the main motor arm. I would fix it and get it working again untill eventually the same thing would happen again. Whats the problem?

I was having the same problem with mine too. I switched the eye bolts to a longer size than called for, I think they went from a 3" to a 4" length. I also used a heavy black cord that slipped easily off any snags that should happen. Fishing line seemed to snag too easy. Just using the longer eyebolts should help

I too had the same problem --- with mine the nuts that hold the fender washer that you drilled the 3 holes in were tightening slowly. At a point the nut would tighten enough that the washer would become fix in place – it would no long slip as the crank arm rotated. The lines would then tangle and wrap around the motor shaft and crank arm and make a real mess.

On closer inspection of some web sites, I found that I had omitted one very crucial locking washer. Check out your pivot assembly and make sure you have all the parts in the correct order

I'm not sure if the weight of the arms matters, I didn't have hands for mine. My problem was just making sure the eyebolts hung lower than the crankarm so the lines never got near it. I also didn't use anglestock, I used 1x2's instead, so it had to be tweaked a little.
p.s. great pics!
