Default Awsome prop idea...

Well for a while now Ive been toying with the idea of a good electric chair prop but have not quite found exactly the idea that Im looking for. Then I ran across this genius of a web site. You gotta check it out...

http://www.employees.org/~joestone/H...ash_n_burn.htm

You MUST check out the video which is 3/4 down the page... that pretty much sold me on it. Alot of this stuff is kinda outta me league but Im determined. Even as I was looking at it wondering how in the world I was gonna pull this off Jens X-husband was over and he looked down at my list.. "Welding?" he said.. "Hell I know how to weld... we can do that easy." Im pretty stoked.

Im not going crazy.. its just a nice place to visit.

Oggieboogie:
That is an awesome prop.
My hubby and I (O.K., just me talking and talking and him humoring me) have been toying with the idea of doing a live person electric chair. There's a terrific website: www.theatrefx.com that has some pretty cool stuff. Most way out of my league but the smoke pots and sparks for your finger tips seemed do-able.
Would love if you keep us posted on this as you build.

I've been busy getting stuff together (mostly info) about this project but am stumped by one drawback. One of the things about this prop is that the body looks amazingly real. Thats the problem with most props.. a great idea is downplayed by an unrealistic looking victim. /SIGH.. the body he used as far as I can tell runs about $800 and I've had problems locating an alternative. Maybe someone out there has ideas.. you must see the video on that site first though...

Im not going crazy.. its just a nice place to visit.

Oogie: Have you made a pvc pipe and fitting and chicken wire framed body? I just made my first one last weekend and it was easy and didn't take very long. (The hardest part was finding a flat four way fitting.) If you padded it with foam and dressed it, it would have substance. The only thing it might lack is real life joint shaking. I'll look for my dummy instruction website if you are interested.
