A tutorial would be awesome! I'd also like to make a lot of skulls, and find the paper mache method way too slow!

Well, if you're interested in plaster skulls, I humbly put forward my tutorial here:

"Glove" Mold Making 101

The adult size skulls start on page 2 there.

The supplies are all available at Michaels now as well, and pretty darn cheap with a coupon or two.

I used 3 molds last year to make 120ish skulls. They end up running well under $1 each.

I am totally broke so I can't afford to buy professional molding/casting supplies I was looking for something faster than paper mache, but since I have been successful with it then I'll stick to that
I got the following information on mold making with Silicone Caulk from another site a while back. I didn't write this how-to so I can't really say how easy it is or how well it works.

Sorry it took so long to get this post on, a holiday weekend!

Good luck

Very good info. All the casting shops I've been to said you can't use caulking because it's too thick and holds air bubbles and that Great Stuff foam doesn't work. I guess they want me to spend top dollar for their products.
I'm going to try your way. I know the Great Stuff foam needs air and takes a long time to cure and is hard to work with. Is there an additive to speed up the curing of the foam like the caulking?
(The shops here charge about $700.00 to cast a set of foam hands)

As far as I know, you can't really add anything to the Great Stuff foam since it's already mixed when it comes out. You will notice that once you start to cast your objects, they will shrink some when you take them out as they cure.

There has been very mixed results using the Great Stuff foam since it does need air to cure properly. You will need take your time with it and expect not to have perfect copies every time.

Good luck and let use know how it goes.

IIRC, moisture will speed up great stuff curing. It's on the can itself. I think they said spritzing it with a water bottle.

Good luck with the silicone.
