I want to thank you all for keeping after me to get back to work on Morti. Before I made a "final" final decision about adding texture or making him smooth I did a little test area with glue and tissue paper. The look was good, but I decided it was not what I wanted for Morti. However, when I made the decision to leave him untextured I knew I was committing myself to a lot of sanding and fine detail work.

As I added the clay detailing to Morti I was not concerned about smoothing the surface because I originally planned to texture him. So going back and sanding
him for the smooth surface I want will be a slow and tedious process because of all the veining details (+ I'm fussy) The good news is that I have the time and being a tactile person I love the process of sanding and detailing. In my opinion this is one of the most important stages in the project.

The color palette for Morti will include 13 colors in various shades of browns, oranges and greens to give him depth. My plan is to do a combination of airbrush and stippling paint techniques. I will have to see how that works for me; I have a tremor in my hands that comes and goes on its own schedule. I might have to switch over to a traditional brush technique after applying the base coat if the tremor is a problem. However, that's one of the things I have enjoyed so much about this project...it's one huge experiment and I have so much more work to do in creating the body I want for Morti.

Keep pushing me. This is the time of year that summer activities can keep you from progressing on fall projects. Next thing you know Fall has Fell....

I'm very excited to see him finished! I'm also glad that you decided to keep him smooth and use the paint for texture. I think he will look fabulous!

I know what you mean about the weather. This week I've been just the opposite though. Today reached 100 degrees so I stayed inside in the air conditioning and got some work done on my Secret Reaper project!

Thank you Rikki. I'm in the house today because of the weather too. However it's 50 degrees and pouring rain.
