I am finally ordering a skulltronix skull.

Does anyone have pics to compare the aged option to the normal skull.

Its hard to do a good comparison while watching video.
I realy want to zoom in for details.

I will be mounting on one of my buckeys. So I am a little concerned about consistancy, but,I realy liked the older look.

Cant afford a matching body right now.


any advice?

Asking Jerry for a picture is probably your best bet, I've not even seen an aged skull, here in the UK I offer a different aged paint schema

I have the aged one but no pictures. I do not see much difference between my aged bucky and white bucky in the normal low lighting. Where the big difference is when the DMX lighting is on the Skulltronix with aged look you do not have the shine, glare, reflective look like the normal bucky. So I would go with the age look on the skull. You could always put on some ratty clothing on the bucky to cover up the white look.

I didnt even notice that. BUt now that you mention it. Its very true. and probally explains why I am drawn to it.

We used to hand paint a nice mottled look on the skulls back in version 1 and 2. When we went to the much brighter DMX lights we found the contrasting paints used would change color with the lights in unexpected and sometimes unpleasant ways. We finally settled on the tan color as a nice neutral color that would both represent the real color of old bones that HAVE NOT seen sunlight as well as provide a consistent "projection surface" for the lights.

So the current skulls are painted with tan acrylic paint from Michaels. The bucky is repaired (always broken in the box), coated with several coats of latex to hide the hardware, mold lines and give it a bit of a dead skin look and then painted.

It isn't very artistic but is meant to look good under lights that vary in color and brightness. If your use is mostly daylight and up close viewing you would want more latex and lots of detail added either by hand or airbrush.
