If I were going to take the time to paint an entire house front, I would not do it on Cardboard .... waterproofable or not.

Coroplast: that's what it is called.

You can get it at sign shops but it's very expensive! If you wanted to paint it, you could just use a good primer and then latex paints.

I would think that some type of plastic sheeting would be better and less expensive compaired to coroplast.

I would use cardboard. It's dirt cheap, and if some of it were ruined, it would be just as much fun to rebuild and repaint the next year. Look at all their pics. Those guys are having a blast. Plus it doesn't obligate you to the same design every year.

What about gluing Housewrap as a base layer to waterproof the cardboard? then paint or scene setter on top.

I have found rolls 100FT x 9FT housewrap for $40. That breaks down to $1.60 for a single 4' x 9' sheet.
