Hi all. I feel like I've found a home (or is that haunted house?).
We had our first yard haunt around 1985, now we live in the mountains too far away from the TOTs. So... a friend of mine was the president of the local Lions club, and we thought it would be great to have a haunted house as a fund raiser for the club. It was quite a success and the board granted us a nice budget (at least we are happy to even have a budget) so this year gets to be bigger and better. blah blah blah. Anyway, I look forward to sharing ideas... there's always lots to learn.
hallorenescene, Ahwahnee is the "town" where we live, and liz is my name. hmmm, it pretty much is pronounced like it looks. We are about 25 miles from the south gate of Yosemite. There is a hotel there by the same name, it's a Native American word. I believe it means Grizzly bear in the native Miwok language. Wow, that was probably more than you really wanted to know, huh? I know, it has nothing to do with haunts, but it's me!
actually, that is pretty cool. we moved from iowa to wyoming back a few years. we passed through a town oggallalla, and i know the spelling is way off, and had a blast trying to figure out to pronouce it. one night i was out with a friend and i found out she was 1/2 indian. she had grown up on the reservation and told me all about the name and what it meant. pretty cool huh!
