Anyone used buycostumes.com ?

They have some stuff on clearance that is cheaper than I've seen other places, but I don't buy from places that I am not sure about... (the Lighting Effects Box with Spooky Sounds CD is at $14.95)

So anyone got some info on this company?

Hey Frankies girl, I buy from them all the time. They are very reputable and I have always been very happy with them. It is funny you are looking at the effects box. I just bought 3 of them and they just came in. I have one already and it is awesome. Great effect. I needed three more to cover all the rooms in the front of my house. I want it to look like it is thundering and lightning inside my house from the outside. We used the box last year and it was a great hit. It comes with a CD with music already, but you can use your own as well. It also has a thundering track. You can also hook up more than one light to one box. Go for it. The box last year was selling at Spirit Halloween for 40 bucks. It is definatley a good deal and a great effect.

Yeah, BuyCostumes.com has a pretty good reputation. The only thing I'd watch out for is when buying clothing or costumes, be sure you know the right size. They do not do exchanges for clothing, only returns. That means if you purchased an item that ends up being too big or too small, you have to return it and YOU pay for shipping and handling. Then you have to place a new order for the item in a more appropriate size (and hope that they still have it in stock).

Their Lighting Effects Box is at an excellent price, and it is a great item (as you can read in my review - PirateHaunter). But the best price for this item is still at SPILSBURY.COM and their service is top-notch. In fact, now that you mention it, maybe I should pick up a few more at this price!!

Have done business with them in the past a few times. Very reputable and quick shipping.

The same box is on sale at Spilsbury.com for $12.95 and till the 30th there is a 20% off coupon you can find online as well. Just got 2 of them this week. Came to 28 and change for 2 with shipping

I love buycostumes.com, I bough birthday stuff for my sons 1st b-day from there. I'm actually glad this post went up, thanks for the great idea. Just went and bought one. =)

The Spilsbury site won't let me purchase - it keeps logging me out. I've sent an email to their helpdesk, but who knows when they'll get back to me.

I guess I'm going to be looking at buycostumes after all!

Edited to add: They took the lighting boxes off of blowout and raised the price to $19.99, so going with Spilsbury after all.

I've been buying from them for about 4 years and LOVE them. Costumes, props, you name it. I've only had one complaint and that was last year when I placed a big order and the box was damaged and 2 things were missing. They replaced it though, no hassle.

The special effects box is great. I have 3 of them that I bought from there.

As a person who often has to deal with the headaches of 'across the boarder' shopping, I can honestly say that buycostumes is the only place (so far) that I would suggest to people without hesitation. I've done business with them twice, and they're always prompt (in delivery and communication).
