Default Has anyone heard of "Light as a feather"?

My sister played it when she was younger and supposedly her friends and she were able to lift my mother with just their index fingers supporting her while they chanted "Light as a feather"...My mother vouched for this but they don't remember the chant or how it worked.

Check out the movies The Craft and The Gate. In both, a group of people try it and it works. The chant is "light as a feather, stiff as a board." you put two fingers of each hand under the person laying on the floor. A good party game, but I wouldn't expect too much out of it.

I haven't played this little game in a while but I think that you are supposed to have one person at the head, one on each side at shoulders, hips, and feet. Everyone closes their eyes concentrating on the person to be lifted and chant "light as a feather, stiff as a board" for a minute and then everyone tries to lift the person at the same time. The person to be lifted is supposed to have their eyes closed too.

The sky is black, the wind is dead
I hear your screams in my head
I will twist you, corrupt you, turn your heart black
I am the fear that makes your mouth go slack
What presence am I that can't be seen?
I am the spirit of Halloween!

Thanks I was looking for this too. I remember people talking about it when I was younger.. so I thought what better party gag than to do something from our youth. -CC

My friends and I have done this before, and it DOES work, it has to do with balance or whatever. But we got it from the movie The Craft and did it the way they did on the movie and it seemed to have worked, but then again... We were all witches. [}]

yup. it works - physics is a wonderful thing. need to have at least 11 people for it to really work "magically" two at: feet, knees, hips, waist (omit this one if you have less folks) shoulders, one (or two) at head).
