Default Horror Portrait Tutorial Part One

I started with the eye mechanism provided by my talented friend, Spookineer. Here's the link to making the eye movement http://spookineering.com/motoreyes.html I used EasyEyes for the iris's and the wooden balls that were attached to the mechanism. Haunters Hangout Easy Eyes

Here you can see how it looks attached to the back of the picture. I mounted it on the frame and used rubber washers to help cut down on any vibration.

I covered the motor mount frame with a piece of foamboard and cut openings in it for the eyes. I then wadded up some aluminum foil to form the face and taped that in place with masking tape. I also covered the front of the foamboard with duct tape.

Next I started applying some Celluclay, purchased from Michael's Craft store. It's important to let this base layer dry before adding any of the main features.

Next I applied some DAS clay, also purchased at Michaels, over the entire piece.

Details were then added using DAS clay for the nose and Paperclay, purchased at Michaels, for the finer details. It's important to note that the mechanism must move freely behind the sculpt.

Here's what I ended up with after the wrinkles were done

Thats great Laurie. I just really love him ! Thats pretty much how I was planning a wall of eyes... although mine are going to moved by a real person.... Not mechanical this year. We'll see if I can work on that for next year.
